Background

Started in Toronto, Canada as an opt-in email list brokerage back in September of 1999, Charlwood eMarketing has grown to provide US, Canadian and international clients with a wide range of emarketing services focussed on generating a positive return on investment. We specialize in working with technology companies to develop effective offers, impactful creative, targeted media and secure database back-ends for generating and managing sales leads and customer information.

Our online marketing services include; strategic consulting, opt-in email list rentals, permission email database management and deployment, website landing page and database application development, content hosting, online marketing research surveys, discount media planning and buying, creative design and promotional services. We also create customized WordPress blogs and plugins/widgets for intranets or extranets, websites and small to large size businesses. Charlwood eMarketing helps businesses lower the cost of acquiring and retaining customers by recommending strategies that meet business objectives.

Biography

Charlwood eMarketing's founder, Chris Charlwood, holds a Bachelor of Commerce Honours business degree with a specialty in Marketing Strategy from Queen's University at Kingston (Ontario, Canada). Chris has spent almost a decade in senior marketing and management roles with private and non-profit companies including The Heart & Stroke Foundation, Alberto-Culver International, The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and VeriSign Inc..

Chris began his marketing career at the Heart and Stroke Foundation managing direct marketing efforts for Canada's largest children's fundraising program. While at Alberto-Culver International, he was responsible for strategic marketing and management of various leading international hair care and household product brands.

After four years in consumer packaged goods, Chris moved on to senior product and marketing manager positions at The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) where he worked on various traditional and online advertising and direct response programs for CIBC Wealth Management and Electronic Banking Divisions. His online experience included website and database development, banner advertising, permission-based email programs and online contest promotions.

While at CIBC, Chris was involved in the launch of CIBC RRSP Express and PC Banking in the Electronic Banking division, which allowed CIBC to be the first Canadian financial institution to enable customers to contribute to their investments online. Chris also spent a year developing and managing online programs involving permission-based email marketing strategies and sales promotions for VeriSign Inc..
